Before  retiring I worked in University administration for many years.  I  joined the club in 2019 to meet new people and walk more of the  Yorkshire countryside.  Now I enjoy walking, swimming, travelling,  reading, going to the theatre and cinema.

Having studied in Edinburgh, I worked abroad for a few years then lived in Lancaster where I joined a local walking group. A brief spell in London preceded about thirty years in Sheffield for the most part, but for short term contracts overseas. The Peak District frequently beckoned. I moved to York in 2014 and have enjoyed getting to  know the NY Moors and Yorkshire Dales.

Hi, I’m a retired Government scientist and in later years as an IT consultant for a US software company, and then for my own company. I’ve done most of my walking in Dorset, which has included walking parts of the coastal path, before moving to Yorkshire and joining the club. These days apart from exploring new parts of the Yorkshire countryside with the club, with bit of time on my hands I'm researching the family’s history and also volunteer at the York Castle Museum.

Rambles Secretary

Hi, I recently retired as a Nurse Practitioner. Originally from Northumberland, I lived in London, Edinburgh, Kenya and Glasgow before moving to York with my husband and two children 31 years ago. Since being widowed I joined the Rambling Club and increased my circle of friends in this very welcoming club. I have always enjoyed walking and cycling, having cycled a few coast to coast routes and climbed Mount Kenya 5199m (17,057ft).

I’m a City & Guilds trained Hairdresser , a past Minster Guide. A continued interest in The History of York City. A passion for the great outdoors ,people and philosophy!!!!

I worked all my life in retailing and for the last 22 years before my retirement, I ran my own company. We specialised in Interim Management, Consultancy and University lecturing/workshops. My hobbies are walking, cycling, squash, badminton, table tennis and gardening and my interests are reading, music, rugby and motorcycle racing. (Past President)
