Tuesday, 7th June - York Cemetery Tour: York Cemetery is a haven for wildlife as well as the departed. During this evening’s tour you will hear interesting tales of York’s citizens of the past who now rest here and are now remembered. Now managed by the voluntary ‘Friends of the Cemetery’, the tour fee is used by the Friends to maintain this important feature of York’s social history.
Friday, 5th August - Theatre Royal ‘Back Stage’ Tour: York’s Theatre Royal is built on the site of the ancient St Leonard’s Hospital and evidence of this can be seen on the rear wall of the theatre. This tour takes you on stage, behind the scenes of the productions and reveals much that you don’t see. Not to be missed, but with tour numbers limited please book early.
Tuesday, 20th September - Bar Convent talk: The Bar Convent has had a rich if not turbulent history, from its founding amid religious persecution to being bombed in WW2, hear more at this evening’s talk.
Tuesday, 18th October - History of Tourism Talk: For centuries people have visited York for a variety of reasons, long before tourism became an industry. This evening’s talk highlights the reasons why people came and how York became a tourist destination for so many today.
