Coach rambles restarting
With the new “Rule of 6” law coming into effect on the 14thSeptember, we have contacted the Ramblers to seek guidance as to whether the club is exempted.
In summary, the Ramblers had been working with their partners including Sports England to include walking groups under the Government’s recreational team sports category. This was agreed which led to the new guidance on the Ramblers website (published 24th August 2020) that groups of up to 30 people can go walking as long as Covid-19 guidance was followed e.g. social distancing, T&T details etc. On the announcement of the new “Rule of 6” the Ramblers went back to their partners to confirm that walking groups continue to be included in the recreational team sports category and are therefore exempted from the Rule of 6. This has been confirmed hence the new guidance on the Ramblers website - England & Scotland: Please note that as organised ‘outdoor physical activity events’, Ramblers and Walking for Health group walks are exempt from the restrictions on social gatherings, known as the ‘rule of six’ in England (from 14 September).
With this clarification we will restart coach rambles starting with Fountains Abbey on the 4th October 2020, please see my previous email on the process for booking and conducting our rambles. With respect to local rambles in line with the guidance and at the Leader’s discretion up to 30 people can attend these.
Our intrepid member Kathrine Angus has something to ask
I’m cycling 300 miles during September to raise money for this charity!
Why not sponsor me by donating to Cancer Research UK on the page https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/katherines-cycle-300-fundraising-page-6?
Wish me luck (only 10 miles a day) and if I can’t manage it there is always October to complete the distance!
Thank you very much.
